On July 18th 2013 Roscrea Lions Club, in conjunction with their other supporting groups, launched their plans for a 10k run which was planned for and took place on 12th October 2013.
The 2013 10k run was the first of its type for Roscrea Lions Club and replaced the annual walk which took place around May each year.
The event was a many-faceted approach being run in association with Roscrea Festival Committee, partnered by Run Ireland and in conjunction with the NTLP and Roscrea St Patrick’s Day Committee. Registration was just €20 and proceeds went to Lions local projects.
The race began near the area of the church within the grounds of Mount Saint Joseph Cistercian Monastery.
It exited the rear entrance of the monastery and crossed over the R491 Roscrea – Shinrone Road at Mount Heaton, continuing along the country roads outlined on the map and finishing at the entrance to Roscrea Rugby Club. A downloadable map showing the route was also available.
The run took place on Saturday, 12th October 2013 commencing at 11.30 a.m. and to take part you had to register with Run Ireland on their activities page on or before October 10th 2013.
Prizes for both Male & Female Winners were:
1st Place €250
2nd Place €150
3rd Place €100
