Roscrea Lions Club hosted a Coffee morning on Saturday June 29th to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Rosemary Project. Friends and supporters were welcomed to the Community Hall on Rosemary Street to acknowledge the success of this wonderful project. Recently inaugurated Lion President Jerome Ryan welcomed everyone along and commended the Club for its ongoing commitment to supporting families who are facing challenging times. Lion Jim Dwyer, who chairs the Rosemary Project, spoke about the early steps to support carers in our community, and how he and Lion Miriam Lupton had reimagined the initial format to be inclusive of the needs of the entire family of a child with medical challenges.
To date, over 50 Roscrea families have benefitted from this confidential service. Rosemary families take an all expenses paid day out with their loved ones, perhaps a Zoo visit, a concert or a trip to the beach. Lions Club fundraising allows us to offer a friendly hand at a time when the going is tough.
Lion Jim spoke about the incredible resilience and dedication of these families, and thanked all our donors for their generosity. With coffee, cakes, balloons and face-painting, a good time was had by all.
